– Cult idol Bettie Page is getting more attention now than she did 50 years ago when she posed in thousands of seductive pinup photos that appeared in magazines. Her Web site has received 588 million hits in the last five years, according to her agents at CMG Worldwide. “I’m more famous now than I was in the 1950s,” she told the Los Angeles Times. A film about her, “The Notorious Bettie Page” starring Gretchen Mol, is scheduled for release in April.
– Sean Connery has undergone surgery for a kidney tumor and is recovering at his home in the Bahamas, his spokesman said Sunday. The 75-year-old Scottish actor underwent the operation a few weeks ago in New York. Connery’s brother, Neil, told The Sunday Times that “as far as I’m led to believe, the tumor was benign. He seems to be quite upbeat about it.”
– Oscar winner Rachel Weisz is the face of Burberry’s ad campaign for the fragrance London. Weisz, who is seven months pregnant, shot the photos for the ads last fall. “I’m British. I grew up with Burberry being the ultimate brand in chic, elegance and history,” Weisz said. “I was thrilled to be asked [to model]. There was no hesitation.” The fragrance is light and floral with a rich undertone of sandalwood and musk.
