– To quote Homer Simpson: Woohoo! Fox has just ordered up two more seasons of “The Simpsons,” guaranteeing the Emmy-winning animated series will keep going through a 19th season in 2008, E! Online reports. With Monday’s announcement, the ‘toon nudges closer to CBS’ “Gunsmoke” as the longest-lived prime time non-news TV program (this sentence as published has been corrected in this text). The Western ran for a record 20 years.

– Ana Marie Cox, the creator of the popular political blog Wonkette and author of the Beltway novel “Dog Days,” has signed with Time magazine as a contributor, Time announced Sunday. Cox will write a regular column for the magazine and a weekly column for the magazine’s Web site. Her first essay for the magazine is titled “Lobbyists in Love.”

– Did you dig David Spade in “Joe Dirt”? Good news: Spade says there might be a sequel in the works, Zap2it.com reports. “We wrote it, because [Adam] Sandler thinks it’s funny,” Spade says (Sandler owns Happy Madison, which produced “Joe Dirt”). Spade says the secret to “Joe Dirt’s” success may be Wal-Mart–a Sony rep told him the film has been a big seller at the bargain retailer.

– The “Brokeback Mountain” DVD will hit stores April 4, even with the movie still in theatrical release, Universal Studios Home Entertainment announced Monday.
