TWO “HOMERS” BY O’NEILL

Roller Skater Squad Under D. Green Spends a Dreary Half Day at Omaha.

Louisville, Ky., April 7—[Special.]—It was easy going for the White Sox regulars at Eclipse park today. It took them just one inning to get properly introduced, but after this it was a case of piling them up until the final total was 13 to 2.

Except for the hard hitting of the visitors at opportune times, there was nothing startling nor strenuous in the game. In fact, barring the first inning, it was a listless affair, except that the Comiskey tribe always was going some, either with the stick or trotting round the squared circle.

Young Carnes, who recently took out a pitcher’s license in Louisville, was responsible for the downfall of the Tebauites. He put them right where Comiskey’s men wanted them and they bunched the swats until the air for a time was full of them. Before he was retired in the sixth inning the Chicagoans had piled up an even dozen runs.

In the batting line, O’Neill of the visitors distinguished himself by lining out two home runs in succession, one in the second and one in the third inning. Isbell and Davis divided what was left of the batting honors, each securing three hits. When Carnes retired nhe was followed by Wright, the bluegrass boy, who got a peep in with McGraw’s bunch this spring. He managed to keep the hits well scattered.

Altrock and Owen Pitch.

Altrock opened on the rubber for the visitors with the pale faced stockings. The tribe of Tebeau negotiated several nifty hits off his delivery, but, with the exception of Brasher’s three bagger and Quinlan’s hot infield hit in the second, none of the swats counted for runs while he officiated. Owen finished the game and allowed one run.

As for the scoring of the White Sox, they got thirteen of them, that’s all.

Dreary for Roller Skaters.

Omaha, Neb., April 7.—[Special.]—Twelve of Comiskey’s White Sox put in half a day of dreary existence in Omaha today. The squad arrived in the middle of the day, but rain arrived at that time, continuing through the day, making it necessary to declare the game off. The men are in good shape and will line up against the Omaha Western league team tomorrow if the weather permits.

Danny Green is in charge of the team. Omaha fans were disappointed that Frank Owen did not come with this division. President Rourke of the local team, from which Owen was graduated, was especially anxious for his former star to come, as he would have been a big drawing card here.

Patterson, Dougherty, and Rugar are the pitchers the White Sox have with them here. Patterson probably will work in Sunday’s game. If the weather prevents the game Omaha will be cheated entirely, for the White Sox are ticketed out of here tomorrow night, going to Sioux City for two games.
