Officials in the Wisconsin Dells area say they hope a proposed $4 million expansion of the region’s airport will boost business and tourism. Baraboo-Wisconsin Dells Airport manager Mike Olah sees increased traffic after the length and width of the runway are increased–to 5,350 feet from 4,795 and 100 feet from 75, respectively–and more safety features, such as beacons to guide planes, are added. Construction would begin in 2009, and it would make the airport accessible to corporate jets.
