EVENT OF THE WEEK
Ex-impostor to address auditors
The Institute of Internal Auditors Chicago Chapter is holding its annual seminar Monday with guest speaker Frank Abagnale, an authority on forgery, embezzlement and secure documents.
Abagnale will discuss his life story, which was dramatized in the movie “Catch Me If You Can.” By the age of 21, Abagnale had impersonated an international airline pilot, a pediatrician, a stockbroker, a college professor and an assistant attorney general. Today, he lectures extensively at the FBI Academy and its field offices, and he consults with financial institutions, corporations and government agencies around the world.
Abagnale will speak from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Rd. in Rosemont.
The daylong seminar begins with registration at 7:30 a.m. and ends with a reception from 5 to 6:30 p.m. In all, 23 breakout sessions will cover corporate governance, internal audit and enterprise risk management, Sarbanes-Oxley, information technology, fraud and ethics, professional development and certified internal auditor exam preparation.
The cost to attend is $275 for members and $325 for non-members. For information, call Kathy Casey at 847-842-1606, e-mail iiachicago@aol.com, or visit www.theiia.org/chapters/chicago.
