CRYSTAL LAKE

Pre-registration for next year’s Crystal Lake Park District Extended Time, an after-school program for District 47 pupils in kindergarten through 5th grade, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in the administrative office, 1 E. Crystal Lake Ave. The program is held at Glacier Ridge, Canterbury, Coventry, Husmann, Indian Prairie, North, South, West and Woodscreek Elementary Schools and Grand Oaks Recreation Center and Spoerl Park. DISTRICT 300

Student art will be displayed Wednesday through April 27 at Spring Hill Mall, Illinois Highways 31 and 72. More than 1,000 works, including drawings, paintings, photography, sculptures and ceramics, will be featured.

ELGIN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Stephen Ziliak will present Size Does Matter, a lecture about the misuse of statistics by economists, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27 in Fox Valley University and Business Center at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive. A recruitment fair for part-time and full-time community college teachers will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Visual and Performing Arts Center Common at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive. Representatives from College of Lake County in Grayslake, Kishwaukee College in Malta, Morton College in Cicero, Oakton Community College in Skokie, Rock Valley College in Rockford and Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove will accept resumes and provide information. Sessions on teaching opportunities at ECC will be held at 6 and 7 p.m.

MARENGO

The Marengo Woman’s Club is seeking applications for a scholarship for adult women through May 5. The applicant must be 21 or older, reside in School District 154 and be registered for a minimum of six undergraduate credits or five graduate credits for the fall semester. The award is for $500. Applications are available in the financial aid offices of McHenry County College and Northern Illinois University.

McHENRY COUNTY

McHENRY COUNTY COLLEGE

A workshop on matching yourself with short-term training opportunities will be held from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 11:50 a.m. on May 4 in Room A262L of McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake. Battle of the Bands will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the gymnasium of McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake.
