How convenient that the desire of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to attract a higher percentage of out-of-state and foreign students to, as it claims, improve its standing among elite schools will also line its pockets to the tune of $13,000 in additional tuition per student. As an alum I am disgusted that some Illinois taxpayers will not be able to send their qualified children to the state’s finest public university but will have to pay extortion-rate out-of-state tuition for a comparable education. Or worse not be able to afford it at all. There is a big difference between an elite school and a school with an elitist and greedy administration. Or maybe they are one and the same . . .
