Would you pay $14 for a 20- minute nap? Apparently not enough Minnesotans would. A store at the Mall of America that sold naps in private, themed rooms for 70 cents a minute has closed, according to The Associated Press. MinneNapolis brought in fewer than 1,600 customers during its six-month run. With many a weary soul caught in the daily grind, RedEye asked people what they’d pay for to help them get through the day.
“I would pay to enter a music station or music booth. Something sonically liberating from all the noise we hear during the day.”
Jamie Clemmons [ 28, Humboldt Park ]
“I’d pay for a bed to sleep on and a bath. Kind of a spa thing. I’d give them $15 for an hour.”
Sandra Saracho [ 21, Boston ]
“If they could actually guarantee that I’d slip into good REM sleep, I’d pay $20 for an hour of napping.”
Clarke Mills [ 28, Uptown ]
