John G. Borvan, age 83, a resident of Naperville, IL since 1973, formerly of Calumet Park, IL, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at Edward Hospital, Naperville. He was born on June 13, 1922 in Chicago, IL. Cherished husband of Betty J., nee O’Brien, Borvan, whom he married Oct. 1, 1949; proud father of Susan (Tom) Kuehl, Mary Beth (Joe) DiBona, Nancy (Mark) Graczyk, Judith (Jim) Dore’, Barbara (Mark) Kingery of Aurora, Laura (Fred) Szulc, Joan (Bill) Dafnis and the late Michael Borvan; adored grandfather of Beth (Aaron), John, Caitlin, Cara, Ryan, Scott, Kelly, Kevin, Maura, Alexis, Dylan, Paige, Claire, Ava, Chloe and Elle; loving great-grandfather of Lindsey and Rylee; devoted son of the late Michael and Magdalena, nee Fernbach, Borvan; dear brother of Ann (the late Frank) Foley, James (Marianne) Borvan and the late Joseph (Rose) Borvan; fond uncle of many. John proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by Brinks, Inc., Chicago for 30 years and with the Illinois Tollway Authority for 10 years. John was a current member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, Naperville and a former member and usher at Seven Holy Founders, Calumet Park. He was a lifelong Chicago sports fan and avidly followed his beloved Cubs, Bears and Bulls, but definitely not the White Sox. Visitation Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Prayers will begin Friday, 10:30 a.m. from the funeral home and will proceed to an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 36 N. Ellsworth St., Naperville.
