– Sculptor and fiber artist Nick Cave and painter Julia Fish were named winners of this year’s Richard H. Driehaus Foundation $10,000 awards for established Chicago-area artists. The $10,000 award for an emerging artist went to Paola Cabal.

– Fresh off his “American Idol” win, Taylor Hicks has signed a record contract with music titan Clive Davis, it was announced Wednesday.

– Monaco’s royal palace refused comment on French media reports that Prince Albert II will soon acknowledge paternity of a second illegitimate child. “The palace is not commenting, since these are the private affairs of the prince,” spokeswoman Christiane Stahl said Wednesday of reports Albert will acknowledge paternity of a 14-year-old girl from California.

– A judge in L.A. has extended a stay-away order against a man Sandra Bullock accuses of stalking her across several states. Thomas Weldon, 37, has been under court order to stay at least 200 feet from the actress since 2003. Superior Court Judge Marion Johnson extended the order, due to expire Monday, until 2009.
