This race isn’t for you–it’s for your fiesty little lapdog. From 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, the Naperville PetCo will sponsor Unleashed: Second Annual National Chihuahua Races. A regional winner gets a trip (along with its owner) to San Diego for the Sept. 3 America’s Fastest Chihuahua showdown at a San Diego Padres home game. Claiming to be the first-ever all Latin/Punk festival, Southkore Fest will take over The Black Hole (3045 W. 26th St.) at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Featured bands include Intifada, 30/30, En La Olla, Ruido, BSA, Condenada, Outraged, Eske and Tropiezo. $10.

To nosh

From 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, swing by 3020 N. Broadway (the site of the former Dominick’s, now MidAmerica Bank branch trailer) for a free cookout. The Lakeview Appreciation Cookout will feature hot dogs, chips and soda.

To cycle

Get prepped for the upcoming Bike to Work events as well as pedal for a cause. Meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at Daley Plaza (Dearborn and Washington Streets) for Tour de Depaving, a free 2-hour bike ride visiting Chicago areas that have been repurposed and reclaimed as “green areas” such as parks, gardens and restored prairie habitat.
