Construction projects will temporarily close two Brown Line stations and force some Purple Line riders to use a train shuttle this weekend.
The Brown Line’s Kimball and Francisco stations will be closed from 3 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Sunday. During that time, Brown Line trains will operate between the Loop and Western station and free shuttle buses will take customers to the northernmost stations.
Because of Mayfest, a German festival in Lincoln Square this weekend, shuttle bus service has been extended from the Kimball to Damen stations, rather than ending at the Western station. The shuttle bus will make stops at Damen and Leland, the Western Avenue station, Rockwell and Lawrence, Sacramento and Lawrence, Kedzie and Lawrence, Kedzie and Wilson and the Kimball station.
Separately, a track-installation project will require the CTA to run shuttle train service for Purple Line customers in both directions between the South Boulevard and Howard stations starting Friday evening.
