Who won the 2005 Indianapolis 500? I don’t know, but Danica finished fourth. Who won this year’s 500? I can’t remember his name, but Danica finished eighth.
Enough about Danica Patrick already. Two days after the 2006 Indy 500 and what do I find on the front page of the Tribune’s sports section? Yet another story blathering on about Danica. Why not a story about the exciting finish or a story on the 19-year-old rookie named Andretti who came within a car length of winning, or a story about Sam Hornish Jr., the actual winner? Danica was a non-factor all day. She started 10th and finished eighth. Wow, stop the presses!
No, I am not a sexist as Mike Downey suggests (Tribune, May 30). I’m just tired of having Danica shoved down my throat, as are many other open-wheel race fans. This year’s 500 program looked like a Danica catalogue.
