I read where Texas will be raising speed limits to 80 m.p.h. on certain highways–that means 85-90 m.p.h. (“Texas to let drivers really gun engines,” Page 1, May 25).

Is Texas exempt from energy conservation?

As a commute to work now has become a financial struggle that most Americans endure, I find this a blatant disregard of conservation and safety.

If Texans want to endanger highways, don’t waste my tank of gas killing yourselves.
