– “Wedding Crashers” was the big winner at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards, with three trophies, including the coveted Golden Popcorn for best movie. The film also earned breakthrough performance honors Saturday for Isla Fisher and best on-screen team award for Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. “For most people, playing a bipolar nymphomaniac would have been a challenge,” Fisher said with a grin. “But I just played myself.” The best comedic performance prize went to Steve Carell for “The 40 Year-Old Virgin.” Host Jessica Alba also took home a trophy, for sexiest performance in “Sin City.” “Thank you to all the perverts who voted for me,” she said. “Thank you to the fans. … Practice safe sex and drive hybrids if you can.” The show airs Thursday.
– The cast for the upcoming Steppenwolf Theatre production of Bruce Norris’ “The Unmentionables” has changed drastically. John Mahoney, who continues to battle health problems, has withdrawn. He’s to be replaced by Rick Snyder. And Laurie Metcalf also has left the show, citing family responsibilities. Her place will be taken by Shannon Cochran. The show begins June 29.
