– Toyota is recalling some 170 ,000 2004-06 Prius sedans in the U.S. because the steering shaft assembly could crack or loosen if the car hits a curb or the steering is turned to full lock at low speeds. 6-4-06
– Volkswagen is recalling 362,000 1999-2002 Jetta and 1998-2002 Beetle sedans with automatic transmission and cruise control because the brake lights could malfunction. 6-4-06
– Volvo is recalling about 108,000 2003-06 XC90 SUVs because problems with ball joints in the front suspension area could make it difficult to steer the vehicle when parking. 5-21-06
– GM is recalling about 400,000 2004-06 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon and 2006 Isuzu i-280 and i-350 pickups to repair brake lights. 5-7-06
– Ford is recalling nearly 150,000 2005 Escape and Mercury Mariner SUVs without side-curtain air bags or moonroofs after it and NHTSA reached different conclusions in safety tests measuring the driver’s head protection in a crash. 4-23-06
– Ford is recalling 19,140 2003-04 Mustang Cobra sports cars over complaints that the accelerator pedal could become caught in the carpeting and lead to a crash. 4-16-06
– Lexus will recall about 29,000 2006 GS and IS sedans to correct faulty parts in the seat-belt tensioner. 4-16-06
– Nissan is recalling about 44,000 2005-06 Frontier King Cab pickups because a severe side crash could lead the fuel cap to unscrew and fuel to spill. 4-9-06
– Chrysler is recalling 268,800 vehicles 2005-06 Dodge Durango, Caravan and Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country vehicles to replace a faulty front windshield wiper motor 3-26-06
– GM is recalling about 900,000 1999-2000 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups worldwide to fix problems with tailgate cables that can corrode and break when loads are placed on them.
– Ford has recalled more than 200,000 2006 F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickups because of a software error in the instrument panel that could prevent the ABS warning light from illuminating. 3-12-06
– Volkswagen is recalling about 74,000 2003 Passat and Audi A4 and A6 sedans and wagons because potentially faulty fuel pumps could lead to stalling engines. 2-5-06
– Jaguar is recalling 2,675 2006 XJ sedans because the moonroof may shatter when the door is closed or the vehicle is moving. 2-5-06
– Porsche is recalling 18,627 911 Carrera S and 4S cars to replace the exhaust pipe. The welding seams on the pipe can weaken, causing it to fall off. 1-15-06
– GM is recalling 553,063 1999-2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Tahoe and Suburban; and GMC Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles to fix anti-lock brakes that may be activated without warning. 1-1-06
– GM is recalling about 425,000 2003-06 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vans because of reports that the seat-belt buckles will not latch or unlatch. 12-25-05
– Mercedes-Benz is recalling 61,000 2005-06 C-Class sport sedans because of irregularities involving the driver-side air bag discovered during NHTSA testing.12-25-05
