In support of letter writer E.L. Foertsch (“CTA ice buses,” Voice of the people, June 3), I, too, have experienced precisely the conditions described for about two years, and consistently rather than sporadically.
Inversely, on those same 75-degree days, one may encounter intolerably hot bus temperatures, with heaters seemingly stuck on “high.”
The Chicago Transit Authority’s fleet of new, expensive buses had sliding windows that functioned well, then curiously became inoperable. The drop-down windows along the top also worked well, but now they’re often inoperable too.
This is unacceptable. I just don’t get it, so let’s just keep paying higher fares.
