I find it very difficult to admit that I agree with U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) on almost any subject, but hurt as it may, I totally agree with her remarks regarding Ann Coulter’s statements in her new book (“Coulter ridicules widows of 9/11; Sen. Clinton rips author for `vicious, mean-spirited attack’ accusing 4 of enjoying their husbands’ deaths,” News, June 8). Coulter has made a career out of being disgusting and coming up with statements sure to inflame even a person with the most rudimentary brain functions.

How dare she claim that the surviving family members find glory in their grief.

How dare she speak out about their pain and suffering when she will be the recipient of millions of dollars from the sale of trash claimed to be a serious literary effort.

How anyone would pluck down real money for this book or even take it from the library at no charge is beyond me.

Have we as Americans so separated ourselves from the pains these families have gone through and are continuing to suffer that we resort to this vicious diatribe, name-calling and belittlement? What happened to compassion? Did not our current president declare himself a compassionate conservative? Is the right wing so far removed from reality that it supports this sophomoric ranting that Coulter presents?

This story on the book followed up a great week in U.S. history. The Senate actually found the time to debate the rights of gays to live in a state of marriage, to anticipate the really important issue of flag burning and so on. I guess there really is nothing to say about fighting a war on two fronts, taking care of hurricane victims from a year ago, feeding the homeless and on and on.

Never fear, the right has champions like Coulter to make sure we all go down the “right” path.
