Johanna E. “Joan” Kerzan, age 94, of West Bend, Wisconsin, passed away at the Samaritan Health Center on Sunday, June 11, 2006. She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on August 12, 1911, to the late Martin V. and Anna (nee Pawlak) Szymarek. She was united in Holy Matrimony on November 20, 1937, with Martin V. Kerzan at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chicago. Her loving husband, “Marty”, passed away on August 9, 1984. For many years Joan and Marty were faithful members of the St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish in Chicago. Survivors include her son Donald M. (Dale) Kerzan of Sandy Valley, Nevada, her daughter Joan Sharon (Charles) Lukasik of West Bend, Wisconsin, who was a loving caregiver for Johanna for many years, 2 grandchildren, Scott B. (Jill Wester) Lukasik and Amanda M. Lukasik of West Bend, Wisconsin. Other survivors include nephews Fr. Joseph Pitts OMI, Rudy Kerzan Jr., Richard Kerzan and many beloved nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her son Dennis Kerzan, her brother Anthony (Agnes) Szymarek and six sisters; Cecelia (Victor) Woitushko, Stella (Alex) Jagodinski, Helen (Walter) Woitushko, Veronica (Joseph) Pitts, Martha (Henry) Krajniak and Barbara (Rudy) Kerzan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend, WI. with Rev Raphael Rodriguez presiding. Burial beside her loving husband, Marty will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
