– Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Bozan, are the parents of a baby girl, Isabella, their first child, the actor’s publicist said Monday. The baby was born Sunday in Miami.

– He gave the world the Ministry of Silly Walks and foul-tempered hotelier Basil Fawlty of TV’s “Fawlty Towers.” Now John Cleese wants to pass his comic skills on to a new generation. Cleese, one of the founders of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, said he plans to write a history of stage, film and TV comedy. “I’m too old to write new comedy,” Cleese, 66, told London’s The Times newspaper Monday.

– The road to Miss America will be documented in a seven-episode series titled “Finding Miss America.” The show will film in Los Angeles Sept. 5-13, officials said Monday. The series will air on Country Music Television for a week preceding the televised pageant in January.

– Kevin Aviance, a singer who was assaulted Saturday by youths yelling anti-gay slurs in New York City, left the hospital Monday, his leg in a brace and his jaw wired shut. His publicist said Aviance’s jaw will be wired shut for about 21/2 weeks. The singer also suffered a fractured left knee. Four men have been charged in the attack.
