1. We salute you
Happy Flag Day, everyone. On this day, we celebrate Old Glory, the second-most important symbol of our nation, right behind the Dairy Queen Blizzard.
2. And those boots
The director of “Superman Returns” insists Superman isn’t gay, which seems reasonable. The guy wears a cape, hangs out with Aquaman and can’t seal the deal with Lois Lane. No, no, definitely not gay.
3. Got an itch
I was surprised to find out that “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift” debuts this weekend, and doubly surprised to find out that it’s a movie and not a disease you can catch at a bathhouse.
4. Extra, extra
“The Pink Panther” came out on DVD Tuesday, featuring deleted scenes–about 1 hour, 32 minutes of them to be exact.
5. A new champ
A Virginia teen set a U.S. record by reciting 10,980 digits of Pi, prompting anxious “Lord of the Rings” fans everywhere to seriously reassess their nerdiness.
6. Stop the music
For anybody hoping to hear OutKast play “Hey Ya!” live, Andre 3000 tells Vibe magazine: “If the Queen of England called right now … I couldn’t do it.” So I take it that’s a no.
7. Bit of a stretch
Jack Black (above) makes the stunning announcement that he is retiring from acting to pursue his passion: yoga instruction.
8. Yowza
Jessica Simpson has a new song coming out, and she’s calling it “A Public Affair.” Boy, if that isn’t a kick to Nick Lachey’s crotch …
9. Which hunt
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. chose to cast a bunch of no-names for a planned prequel to “The Dukes of Hazzard,” but, given the acting talent in the original, I challenge you to tell the difference.
