Peter L. Armbruster, age 86, died June 10, 2006 in Montague, MI, formerly of Chicago. Born Oct. 24, 1919 in Smithton, IL to Julius and Augusta, nee Brielmaier, Armbruster, he came to the White Lake area in the past year. On Nov. 21, 1948 in Chicago, he married the former Virginia J. Wiktorski. He had been self-employed in the trucking industry. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Moose Lodge. He loved to fish and was well-liked by everyone who knew him. Mr. Armbruster earned a safety award from the National Safety Council for 3 MILLION accident-free miles in his trucking career. He served in the U.S. Navy. Survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Carol (Frank) Carls of Montague; grandchildren, Katie Carls of Whitehall and Kristy Carls of Montague; sister, Cornelia Lang of Venice, FL; brother, Bill Armbruster of Orland Park, IL. Funeral Liturgy was held on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Montague, with the Rev. Fr. Chris W. Rouech presiding. Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Montague. Military Graveside Rites were conducted by the Muskegon County Veteran Council. Donations to Hospice of Muskegon/Oceana, 1050 W. Western Ave., Suite 400, Muskegon, MI 49441.
