Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I tore up my Cubs 2006 schedule this week, and I’ve been a Cubs fan since 1933. Tribune Co. doesn’t want to sell the Cubs and they don’t want to put out the dough to make them perpetual winners, preferring to piddle along with journeymen like Jeromy Burnitz, Tony Womack, Jacque Jones, Matt Murton, etc.

Can you believe they had John McDonough on TV the other night gushing about the “revenue stream” their wonderful wireless bullpen phone was going to produce? Len Kasper is hard to take–can’t he show even a little indignation about how pitiful the Cubs have become? Harry Caray would be going berserk.

Did Jim Hendry try to get Jim Leyland instead of Dusty Baker, or was Leyland smart enough to stay away from an organization that gives away young stars like Greg Maddux and Dontrelle Willis and trades older ones like Bruce Sutter and Lee Smith?

Lou Piniella is probably available for next season. How about Ned Colletti, Dave Dombrowski or Ken Williams for the front office?
