Ruth “Betty” Hurka, nee Samuelson, born Aug. 29, 1914, in Chicago, IL, age 91, late of Templeton, CA, and longtime resident of Palatine, IL. Beloved mother of Robert (Carole) and Cheryl (Bradley) Eaton; dearest aunt of Marybeth Jacobson; and proud grandmother of Scott and Mackenzie Eaton; former wife of the late Robert L. Hurka Jr.; sister of the late Margaret (Samuelson) Jacobson; and the daughter of the late Peter and Esther Samuelson. She was preceded in death by infant daughter Gail. In her early years, Betty was a beautician in Chicago and Oak Park, caregiver, enjoyed painting and later in life loved her home of over 30 years in Palatine, IL, and sweet dog “Spunky”.
