James “Roger” McCoy, Sr., 81, formerly of Elk Grove Village, IL, passed away June 15, 2006, at his residence in Jacksonville, FL. He had served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Roger was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a member of the Elk’s Club, and a charter member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at Marshall University. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eileen McCoy; son, James Roger (Leslie) McCoy, Jr. of Chubbuck, ID; daughters, Susan McCoy of Jacksonville, Kathy (James) Groh of Elk Grove Village, IL, Janet (Mark) Hvidhyld of Louisville, KY, and Linda (Keith) Monday of Jacksonville; sisters, Dorothy (Ray) Hart of Virginia Bch, VA, and JoAnn Clark of Newport Ritchie, FL; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2006, in the funeral home chapel. The family will then receive friends until 8 p.m. The Rev. Daniel Cody will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2006, in the historic sanctuary of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
