Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I don’t want to be pushy, but I’ve been a Cubs fan since 1945 and it’s getting late–if you know what I mean.

Now I don’t want to bore you with too many details, but there was this discussion once after Sunday school about who would win the World Series that year–the Cubs or the Tigers. I was in the 6th grade and God only knows why I decided to enter the conversation and blurt out the Cubs as my pick. I must have missed a sign (from above).

Jack Brickhouse observed that “any team can have a bad century.” While agreeing with that, it occurred to me earlier that historically the Cubs have been strong in the first decade of the century. Of course there isn’t a lot of history to consult as, other than now, they have only played in one first decade of a century. And the way things are going, that past record may prove to be an anomaly.

I know everybody connected with the Cubs is trying real hard and it’s still early in the new century, but I just wanted to alert Cubs management and players that I’m starting to run out of decades–if you know what I mean.
