George Victor Mather, age 79, retired Professor of English at Harold Washington College and a longtime Hyde Park resident, died Wednesday, June 14, of lung cancer at Montgomery Place. He is survived by his wife, Jane Mather; stepchildren, Penney Kome and Dylan Kome; daughter, Christine Mather; and grandsons, Sanford Kome-Pond, Graham Kome-Pond, Spencer Kome, George Samuel Kome, Eric Mather-Burks and Alec George Mather-Burks. There will not be a funeral service but friends are invited to visit his memorial website at www.georgevictormather.freeservers.com Contributions may be sent to the Hyde ParkKenwood Interfaith Council earmarked for the Food Pantry.
