I LOVE …

… seeing plays and musicals at the Woodstock Opera House (www.woodstockoperahouse.com). The quality of the community theater productions makes it worth the trip, the ticket price is reasonable, and it gives me another reason to visit a quaint city with a picturesque town square. The shows are one of those well-kept secrets that shouldn’t be a secret.

— Tom Jaekel, Schaumburg

… the light-but-crunchy salmon cakes on Friday special at Petterino’s (150 N. Dearborn St., 312-422-0150) and the impeccable service that comes with.

— Ron Pyke, Valparaiso, Ind.

… when the restaurant says it’s a 20-minute wait and they mean it.

— Steve Siciliano, Chicago

I HATE …

… when a server at an upscale restaurant brings you your food and says, “Here ya go.”

— Tony Ondrus, Highland Park

… the people who do not wash their hands before they leave the washroom. It is bad hygiene and spreads unnecessary germs around society.

— Gloria Beasley, Chicago

… when you go to a restaurant and they tell you [it’s a] 20-minute wait, and there are tables open and servers talking.
