This is regarding “Bush’s moment; By taking a page from LBJ, president could become more than a footnote in history” (Commentary, June 15), by Geoffrey R. Stone, a law professor at the University of Chicago. Perhaps it doesn’t register on Stone that President Bush has already had a defining civil rights moment akin to Lyndon B. Johnson’s. He has affirmed the human rights of unborn children, whose treatment as property to be disposed of as desired is a vastly more significant civil rights issue than discrimination due to a chosen behavior.
