Guy John Damiani, age 74, born and raised in Chicago Heights, passed away June 20 in Flossmoor where he resided for the past five years. 1949 graduate of Bloom H.S., he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University and Master’s in Linguistics from Univ. of Chicago. A Fullbright Scholar, he was fluent in Spanish, Italian, French and Greek, teaching English as a second language at Athens University in Greece, and Spanish for 20 years at York H.S. in Elmhurst and later for 25 years at Frank Cody High School in Detroit, MI. After retirement he worked for H&R Block, assisting the Hispanic Community with tax and investment assistance. Loving brother of Lee (Jerry) Garafolo-Malizia, Theodore “Ted” and Chester Damiani; uncle of Rita Garand, Julie Smith, Rick, Tim, Dante and Scott Damiani; son of the late Federica, nee Silenzi, and Settimio Damiani; stepson of Rosa, nee Zaffina, Damiani. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (U.S. Rt. 30, 3 Blks E. of Western Ave.), Chicago Heights, on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral Monday 9:15 a.m. to St. Kieran Church, Chicago Heights.
