The Naperville Plan Commission has approved for recommendation to the City Council a plan for 171 townhouses, a proposal the developer scaled back to ease the burden on Indian Prairie School District 204.

The revision for the site at the southeast corner of Illinois Highway 59 and Ogden Avenue by developer Kimball Hill Homes shows 113 fewer housing units, 7.5 acres for a retention pond and nearly 8 acres for commercial use along Audrey Lane and the western part of the site. The project is called Greenbriar Townhomes.

However, attorney Kevin Gallaher, who represents Kimball Hill, said Wednesday that the revised plan, with a remaining 17 acres left to be developed, will be very difficult to market because of its lack of frontage on Illinois 59.

He said they are seeking potential office users for the land but the area could be saturated with office space.

In other business, the commission recommended approval to the City Council of plans to build seven homes on 3 acres at 920 Jackson Ave.
