Steve Gebler, dearly loved husband, father and grandfather, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, at home with his family. A devoted husband, proud father and loving grandpa, Steve’s loss will be felt by many. Steve earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University and an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. He worked for CTL group in Skokie, IL since 1979 and achieved professional accomplishments to include providing expert testimony at the Scott Peterson trial and the low-strength concrete investigation of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Florida. Steve was recognized nationally and internationally for his work and contributions. He was an active member of the American Concrete Institute, American Society of Civil Engineers and ASTM International. Steve was always willing to share his knowledge and experience, and was an enthusiastic mentor to junior staff. He was also an entertaining speaker, and was often sought after as a lecturer and presenter at universities and for professional organizations. He authored more than 40 publications. Steve enjoyed spending time with his family, skiing, playing tennis, refereeing soccer and cheering on his beloved Buckeyes. His spirit and love will live on in his family. A Remembrance Service will be held Monday 10 a.m.at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights.
