Richard J. Smith, 18, of Lake Villa, passed away quietly at home on June 24 after a courageous battle against cancer. Beloved son of Darla, nee Szaflarski and Richard Smith; devoted brother of John and Alexa; loving grandson of Bernadine and the late John Szaflarski, Judya and the late Richard Smith; cherished nephew of Debbie (Darryl) Jahn, Cathy Szaflarski, Cindy Szaflarski, Donna (John) Simley, Diane (Larry) Sowa, Christine (Jeff) Heath and Julie (Rick) Owen; special cousin to many.
