This is regarding “The brightest teachers” (Voice of the people, June 19), by Daniel A. Beach, chair and professor of Psychology, Dominican University. Beach deserves our appreciation for reviewing the importance of recruiting the brightest teachers.
I would extend his final comment by only a couple of words: “When schools need to conduct raffles, bake sales and other forms of fundraising, it speaks volumes about our society’s commitment to education” and to the future of our republic.
