Patricia A. Dempsey, died peacefully at her home in New York City on June 25, 2006 surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Louis F. Dempsey. Devoted mother of Maryann Sedlack (Jeff) of Cheshire, CT, Patsy Hammond (Bill) of Summit, NJ, Kathleen Malhame (George) of Manhasset, NY, Louis F. Dempsey (Maria) of Weston, CT and Thomas F. Dempsey (Melinda) of Bronxville, NY; cherished grandmother of Will, Anne, Meg, Charlie, Mary, Katie, Jack, Luke, Mark, Colin, Hannah and Maeve; beloved daughter of the late Thomas J. Fox and the late Agnes Fox of New York, NY. She was predeceased by her sisters, Kathryn Kade and Agnes McGoldrick and by her brother, Thomas Fox. In addition to being a wonderful mother and wife, Pat was a Registered Nurse and trained at Adelphi College of Nursing. As a RN during WWII, Pat crossed the Atlantic 20 times as a ship’s nurse, where she cared for Nazi concentration camp survivors. Pat was Secretary of the Board of the Catholic Guild for the Blind and was active in other Catholic organizations. The family will receive family and friends at the Fairchild Sons Funeral Home at 1570 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, NY on June 27, 2006 from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on June 28, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary, 1300 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset, NY. Burial will be held at Holy Rood Cemetery, Westbury, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Community Services (Guild for the Blind) at 1011 First Avenue, New York, NY 10022, Attn: Therese Snyder.
