“SOLDIERS OF LOVE”

The title track is the high point of an album that’s solid, if not always equal to the band’s best work. If there’s something missing, it might be the presence of singer/songwriter Tony Villanueva, whose old-school country counterbalanced lead singer Brian Hofeldt’s more rock-oriented approach. Musically, the band is as tight as ever, and the production doesn’t waste space. Unfortunately, some of the songwriting is a tad undercooked.
