EVANSTON, DISTRICT 202

The Board of Education has appointed Eric Witherspoon as superintendent effective July 1. Witherspoon was most recently superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools.

GLENCOE, DISTRICT 35

Several retirees were recently recognized for their years of service: Roz Reynolds, 1st-grade teacher; Carol Erickson, Central School LLC teacher associate; and Loretta Jelinek, curriculum and instruction secretary. Also recognized were business manager Ron Chilcote, who will retire in December, and Bill Hesketh, retired South School head custodian.

GLENVIEW, DISTRICT 34

Springman Middle School teachers recently won the National Middle School Association’s Teams That Make a Difference Award. The teachers, all part of the Explorer team at Springman, include Bonnie Buehler, Ronda Franks, Vicky Frigelis, Sarah Myland, Tony Schwinghamer and Susan Zolin. GLENVIEW, DISTRICT 30

The Board of Education has announced the following hirings: Jeannine Stanton as the new reading specialist at Willowbrook School; Meagan Costello as the new Spanish teacher at Maple School; Amy Jensen as Wescott School’s new special education teacher; Susan Wikoff as the district’s psychology intern for 2006-07; and Sheila Flood as the new 7th- grade special education teacher at Maple School.
