As one who works in Virginia for the abolition of the death penalty, I wish that I could honestly say the series of articles about the case of Carlos De Luna and what apparently was a wrongful conviction and irreversible execution shocked me. Unfortunately I daily read about injustices in the cases of the men and women on Death Rows in the U.S. One soon realizes that capital punishment is not about guilt or innocence, it is part of the systemic racism and classism of our society.
It is apparent that we need an immediate moratorium on executions. Thanks for your excellent reporting.
