You can’t fault the ambition of “Testimony,” which draws on a diverse cast (including bluesman Keb’ Mo’ and Rascal Flatts) and makes some sweet forays into country territory. You also can’t fault the positive thinking of India.Arie; at a time when urban music is mired in strip-club morality, the sentiments of “Better People,” which encourages dialogue and respect between generations, really are a breath of fresh air. But you can wish for a few more tunes that don’t dissipate into the airy acoustic soul of past releases. That would have made the heartfelt odes to life, love and empowerment a much more convincing testimony.
