This is in response to “Traffic-law crackdown calls for more cops” (Metro, June 21). I think a simpler and cheaper solution should be tested. The city should place self-standing road signs in the middle of the crosswalks that read “Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.” Also post the fine for breaking this law. I have visited other cities that display these signs in the middle of crosswalks. These signs draw attention to obscure sidewalks and slow traffic down because they are placed in the middle of the crosswalks.
