The Board of Education has hired Jonathan R. Hallmark as the associate principal at Highland Middle School. Hallmark, who has been dean of students at Old Orchard Junior High School in Skokie, will replace Tabatha Reeves this month.
The district has donated $25,000 to help rebuild a reading area in a children’s museum in southern Mississippi that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The district donated the funds to the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport, Miss. The first floor of the museum was destroyed by the hurricane. The center reopened this month with visitors welcomed to the second floor. Work still is being done on the first floor. Call 847-362-9695.
