Mexico began a marathon recount of vote tallies in its disputed presidential race Wednesday, determined to calm fears of a rigged election and check a preliminary count that gave conservative Felipe Calderon a slim lead. But leftist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador insisted he was victorious and threatened to ignore the final tally because of “serious evidence of fraud.” As the recount proceeded Wednesday, partial results gave a slim lead to Lopez Obrador.
