Frederick J. Ludwig, 90, of Byron, formerly of Chicago, died Thursday July 6, 2006 in Byron. He was born August 2, 1915 in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Fred J. and Rose Rielly Ludwig. He married Mildred Hodge in Oak Park, IL on April 15, 1939 she died in 1975. He was a fine Christian man, a Prudential Insurance agent in Chicago, a WWII Navy Veteran and a die-hard Cubs fan. He is survived by daughters, Mary Jo (Fred) Talsma of Byron, Louise (Ray) Vogt of Naperville, sons, Fred. L. (Marge) Ludwig of Chicago, Kenneth E. (Mary) Ludwig of River Forest; grandchildren, Fred, Kathleen, Anne, Beth, Rich, Julie, Bill, Amanda, Greg, Chris, Susanna, John, Elizabeth and Alicia; 15 great grandchildren; and sister, Rita L. (Erwin) Baar of Hinsdale, IL. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Viola Gallagher and Regina White; and grandson, David Ludwig. A prayer service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. preceded by a one hour visitation, with Rev. Timothy Doherty, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, officiating in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St., Byron. Visitation will then be held Sunday, July 9 in the Drechsler-Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion, Oak Park from 3 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 10 at Ascension Catholic Church, 815 S. East St., Oak Park with Rev. Larry McNally, officiating. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Memorials may be directed to Ogle County Hospice, P.O. Box 462, Oregon, IL 61061.
