All but one of Chicago’s lakefront beaches were reopened for swimming Sunday, a day after the Chicago Park District issued a ban because of dangerous levels of bacteria in the water, officials said. A ban was issued for the 31st Street Beach because the level of E. coli bacteria tested above 1,000 colonies per milliliter of water, an official said, and advisories were also issued for the 63rd, 57th, 49th and 12th Street Beaches.
