Thomas D. Hughes, 78, a loving father and devoted husband, passed away July 10, 2006. A friend to so many, his smile lit up the room, his attitude was infectious. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Nellie Hughes of Ireland. Beloved husband of Edie Hughes; loving father of Mike (Maggie) Hughes, Jeanne (Mitch) Morrell, Tony (Juanita) Hughes, John (Renata) Hughes and Julie Hughes; cherished grandfather of Nell, Tom, Madeline, Kevin, Charlie, Sarah, Katie, Alicia, Mike, Matt, Annie, Edie and Maya; dear brother of Rose, Jack and the late Jim. Tom was born in Chicago, IL, graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep and Quincy College. He was the founder of Pride Petroleum Company. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church at 551 Boulder Hill Pass in Oswego, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Ignatius College Prep c/o Thomas D. Hughes Memorial Scholarship Fund at 1076 W. Roosevelt Road, Chicago, IL 60608.
