Fall, 1983 — Mayor Washington picks FJV Venture to develop site.

Dec., 1988 — City grants FJV a $24 million subsidy to build a $500 million office-retail complex.

Oct., 1989 — Demolition begins.

July, 1991 — Recession foils plan. Gallery 37 fills the space.

Jan., 1992 — Ice rink is installed.

Nov., 1997 — FJV unveils plan for $200 million multi-use project.

Sept., 1998 — Macy’s demands $55 million in incentives to anchor multi-use project. Mayor Daley says kiss his mistletoe.

April, 2000 — FJV is back with $251 million plan for hotel-condo-retail complex with Lord & Taylor, Marriott as anchors.

June, 2001 — Bad economy causes FJV to dramatically downsize project. Daley takes land back and fires FJV.

June, 2002 — Daley picks Mills Corp. of Virginia as developer.

Nov., 2005 — Groundbreaking held for $300 million complex.

June, 2006 — Falling stock price, SEC probe has Mills on ropes.
