Lewis McDermut Aurelius, 83, of 1110 Madison Circle, Urbana, died July 11, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at Asta Care Center, Bloomington. Cremation will be accorded. A private family memorial service will be held in December. Memorials may be made to the Veterans Administration. East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Aurelius was born Jan. 25, 1923 in Chicago, a son of Samuel Job and Helen Howell Aurelius. They preceded him in death. He married Charlotte Mary Soukup on Feb. 7, 1948. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Lohoff of Tempe, AZ and Debbie (John) Aurelius-Muir of Bloomington; grandchildren, John Lewis (Charlotte) Muir, Martin Aurelius (Kate) Muir, Matthew Todd (Kristie) Braselton, Adelaide Beth Muir, Rebekah Beth Braselton and Wendy Ann Muir; great-grandchildren, Bethany Grace Braselton and Harper Faith Braselton; one sister, Lura Marietta Aurelius of Urbana; one sister-in-law, Efty Aurelius of Munster, IN; one nephew, Michael Aurelius. One brother, Samuel Job Aurelius Jr. preceded him in death. Mr. Aurelius graduated in May of 1948 from University of Illinois. He was an Industrial Arts teacher in Lockport, IL. He also was an Assistant Principal and Principal in Dolton, IL. He is a Veteran of the United States Army where he was a Medical Lab Technician in the Medical Corps during WWII. He began his service on July 9, 1943 and was medically discharged on July 1, 1945.
