For those scoring at home, Pamela Anderson married Tommy Lee, divorced Tommy Lee, remarried Tommy Lee, divorced Tommy Lee again, got engaged to Kid Rock, broke up with Kid Rock, appeared to reconcile with Tommy Lee, got engaged to Kid Rock again.
It just goes to show that in Hollywood, there’s no such thing as a permanent breakup, just an opportunity to reunite. Here are a few other celebrity do-overs.
Jake Gyllenhaal-Kirsten Dunst
One would think the nature of their break-up would be a deal-killer. Jake reportedly learned from her publicist that their “trial separation” was a breakup. But there they were the next summer, smooching around Hollywood and raising eyebrows.
Jude Law-Sienna Miller
Ah, Nannygate. Sienna was horrified last summer when fiance Jude was forced to publicly admit that his children’s caretaker had laid down the Law. Reportedly, Jude and Sienna reconciled in the fall, split again in the winter, and have reconciled again. She was recently linked to actor James Franco but her rep said they were photographed looking lovey-dovey while filming a movie scene.
Orlando Bloom-Kate Bosworth
The pair met while shooting an ad for the Gap in 2002. Then they broke it off in January 2005. “They did decide to take some time apart due to their upcoming work schedule, and they remain close,” their rep said, according to People magazine. “It was a mutual decision.” But in March, they were spotted canoodling at parties, and Bloom accompanied Bosworth to the L.A. premiere of “Superman Returns.” Bloom laughs off persistent rumors that they are engaged. “None of that stuff is ever true,” he told Teen Vogue in October. “But that doesn’t mean I don’t love someone and that I’m not going to get engaged one day.”
Eminem-Kim Mathers
The volatile rap couple got married in January after their first marriage ended in 2001. But alas, their second go-round only lasted three months before they again called it quits.
‘Housewives’ housecleaning
Slammed by critics and slighted in the Emmy nominations, the folks behind “Desperate Housewives” promised to do better this season.
Series creator Marc Cherry will be the sole executive producer after the departure of Tom Spezialy, who helped launch the show, ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson said. “The early scripts and the story lines and arcs and the mystery are a lot stronger from the get-go.”
“Everyone, including Marc, admitted that at the beginning of last year he stumbled a little bit, answered so many questions at the end of the first season that he really spent too much time setting up the mystery, the new arcs,” McPherson said. “This year we’re going to jump right in.”
McPherson said the show, which returns for its third season Sept. 24, will go back to being “kind of a wicked comedy.”
With or without you
Us Weekly online asked visitors if Carmen Electra is better off without Dave Navarro. Evidently not. Here’s how the voting swung as of Tuesday night: Yes: 43 percent. No: 57 percent.
Diva most divine
Only a softspoken type like Janet Jackson could call Mariah Carey a diva and get away with it.
Not only is Jackson’s R&B peer a diva in her eyes, she’s a “Mother Diva,” Jackson told radio talk show host Ryan Seacrest. In a diva duel between her and Carey, “I think Mariah wins the cake.”
“You know, a lot of people look at that as something being very negative, but I don’t look at that as negative at all,” Jackson said. “She’s very grand. She’s like my sister. My sister La Toya’s grand. Like, if they were to meet, they’d hit it off immediately.”
Cusack wins order
To the woman allegedly following around John Cusack, well, the actor just wants a little space. OK, a whole lot of space. The Evanston native won a temporary restraining order Tuesday against Emily Leatherman, who he claims has been stalking him for more than 18 months.
She must stay at least 500 feet from the 40-year-old actor, his home, workplace, car and any company or office where he does business, a California judge ruled.
Fashion Evangel-ism
Linda Evangelista was the model of the ’80s. Now she’s the model mommy. The pregnant 41-year-old cover girl will grace the front of Vogue’s August issue.
She said she’s not afraid of what her body will look like after the baby, which is due this fall. “I’m not freaked out at all, I embrace it,” she says. “I believe I’m doing everything to go through this as smoothly as possible. I’m either doing yoga or exercising every day.”
Spike (Lee) TV
More known for his controversial movies, director Spike Lee is taking a stab at TV, signing a deal with NBC to develop a drama series.
