Those looking for a good reason to eat and drink island cuisine will want to check out the Caribbean-themed progressive dinner Friday, held in River North and hosted by Design at Home, a non-profit organization founded by a couple of graduates from the Harrington College of Design in Chicago. Their mission? To redesign a room for a family that has moved out of public housing and purchased its first home. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails at Manifesto, 755 N. Wells St., followed by dinner at the German kitchen showroom Bulthaup (165 W. Chicago Ave., Suite 200). Then it’s across the street to Lightology, 215 W. Chicago Ave., for desserts. Design boards will be displayed featuring this summer’s project–a basement redesign for a family on the city’s South Side.

Tickets are $40 at the door. For info, contact Nelson Sears at 312-939-4975 or nsears@interiordesign.edu.
