All right Oak Park and Evanston residents, is it clear enough? Cook County government does not represent us (“The deed is done; Democratic leaders all but hand over the Cook County reins from father to son, unless voters have another idea,” Page 1, July 19). Despite overwhelming published commentary on the inexperience of Todd Stroger, and in one of the smarmiest examples of patronage in recent years, Todd Stroger will take his father’s place on the ballot. So maybe it’s time to secede. Let’s form our own county government.

We each have police, fire, health and human services, hospitals, parks, housing programs, public works, animal control, etc. There’s basically a duplication of county government.

Why do we need ’em?

We can competitively negotiate a fee for the use of a jail or other services from DuPage, Lake, McHenry or Will Counties.

Our taxes are high enough.

While we’re thinking about it, are you feeling represented in River Forest, Forest Park, La Grange, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, Glenview, Northbrook, Palatine and Arlington Heights? Had enough?
